I didn't know that Carlsbad, California was such a hotbed of oppression and class struggle. I blame Legoland.
Legoland didn’t exist until 1998. However, Carlsbad then and now is a wealthy suburb far north of San Diego. Tony and Chip Kinman were Marxists, probably the only 2 in Carlsbad, which was very conservative back then. Now Carlsbad is full of suburban moderate liberals. I’m native to the area.

Discovered this today. What a fucking bop. Love it.
In '76 or '77 I saw this single in perhaps Tower Records in Hollywood. I am not a huge punk fan, but I just like any style of music that is good and I liked their single. I was playing in a hard rock/pop band at the same time. We happened to be playing at the Starwood in Hollywood one night (everyone loved that club). My band was doing a sound check when I recognized the Dills on the side of the stage. Those were the days when booking agents were not smart enough to book like bands with like bands, (which could cause a war) but that worked out anyway. Since the Dills were watching us, I walked up and introduced myself, told them that I really like there sound. They were really nice good people. Just respectful, funny guys. We spoke for awhile then they played. I was so impressed that these guys were smart and really knew what was going on in the world, and not a bunch of jokers. Great band, and quality people.
I love this story....only with punk rock does this happen. NO HEROES NO ROCKSTARS
